Many customers ask us about the differences between Seba Skates and FR Skates products. At first glance, some products are very similar and this creates some confusion. For this reason we have decided to write this article to clarify all kinds of doubts.
It all started in 2006…
Yes, in 2006 urban inline skating was on the verge of a revolution. People, especially in France, demanded a type of skate that did not exist on the market: a hard boot, with a short chassis and a very versatile approach.
As a result of this furor, the Seba brand was created by Sebastien Laffargue and Gregoire Pinto, two urban skaters who were very popular at the time.
Both had many ideas, but lacked the resources to bring them to fruition. This is how they partnered with a Korean company to develop their products.
Success came almost immediately and the rest of the brands began to follow the path that these passionate skaters had set.
Not everything lasts forever
During these years, Seba Skates has remained the reference brand in skates and accessories for Freeskate and Slalom skating. But a change in the management of the Korean company that manufactured their products caused them to rethink a change. Thus, FR Skates was born, a brand 100% owned by Sebastien and Greg, which finally gave them total freedom to design their products with the quality standards they wanted.
The Seba Skates brand, on the other hand, remained in the hands of the Korean company, which decided to continue the production of some products that until now were sold under the Seba brand.
So, which is better, Seba Skates or FR Skates?
Despite the change of direction of the Seba Skates brand, Sebastien and Greg are still linked to the brand helping in the design and being distributors in Europe. However, all his talent and innovations go towards his own brand, FR Skates. The famous Seba FR, for example, will be manufactured only under the FR Skates brand in various sub-models. There are models that are only manufactured under the Seba brand and others that are only manufactured under FR Skates.
