Buy aggressive or freestyle skates - The best models and brands

Aggressive or freestyle skates are skates designed to perform all kinds of tricks and stunts on ramps, rails and skateparks. In general, aggressive skates have a very robust hard plastic boot on which a wider base called soulplate is mounted, which allows them to glide easily over rails and kerbs. On the other hand, they are usually fitted with nylon rails with a central bridge that is also designed to perform tricks on rails and other obstacles. The wheels are usually less than 70mm and relatively hard in order to be as close to the ground as possible and also to allow more space between them to help perform other tricks.

Which aggressive skates to buy?

There are many types of aggressive skates, each one designed for the style and budget of each skater. On the one hand, we have the aggressive skates for children, which like other inline skates for children, are extensible, so that with the same skate, we can cover several sizes.
As for aggressive skates for adults, they usually start at around €150 and go up in price as they improve their components, such as boots, frames, wheels, etc.
Each brand of aggressive skates has one or more models that differ mainly in the shape of the boot, in order to offer all the options available. These differences can be the last, wider or narrower, the height of the boot or the type of soulplate they mount. It must be taken in cosideration that all aggressive skating boots are manufactured following the UFS standard, which allows them to mount any aggressive guide with this system. Thus, there are many skaters who, rather than buying the complete skate, build their own aggressive skate by choosing the boot, rail and wheels that best suit them.
As for the frames, there are several types and sizes with different configurations. These are the main ones:

Flat configuration: These are frames that mount 4 wheels of the same size. With this configuration the skates are faster and easier to steer. It is the ideal configuration for beginners and for skatepark and half pipe.

Antirocker configuration: This involves placing 2 normal wheels at the ends and two much smaller wheels in the middle. These central wheels are sometimes just hard nylon wheels that can even be without bearings. The idea is to have more space in the middle of the rail to make it easier to do grind tricks.

Freestyle configuration: These are slides that only allow you to mount the wheels at the ends and the rest of the slide is a generously sized bridge. This type of configuration is only suitable for experienced skaters.

Hi-lo configuration: This involves mounting wheels of different sizes but all of them touching the ground equally. It is a similar configuration to the anti-rocker, but the 4 wheels are normal wheels and all touch the ground equally. This way you have space for the central bridge but without losing manoeuvrability.

For a beginner skater, who wants to get into aggressive skating, we recommend skates up to 200€ with a flat configuration. From this point on, almost any aggressive skate is suitable for the average skater.
What is important is to try to buy them from a quality skate brand not only to have good skates but also original spare parts. The main brands of aggressive skates are USD, Roces, Gawds, Razors, Remz, Them, among many others.
